Concession Stand Positions
There are three positions that need to be filled

COOK 1
Cook 1’s tasks include working the grill and fryers. Polar Charity’s menu includes burgers, corn dogs, chicken strips, french fries, onion rings, and hot dogs. If you can grill at home you have the skills to be a Cook 1!

COOK 2
Cook 2 is an assistant to Cook 1 and is also responsible for many of the non-counter foods like pretzels and nachos with cheese, and Powerade, as well as helping COOK 1 get buns and trays ready for the hot food.

HELPERS
Helpers are the friendly faces at the counter, you take orders, and handle foods like chips, candy, pop, and snack foods. HELPERS are also responsible for handling money transactions.

Q: Where is the concession stand located?
A: The concession stand is located at McKnight Fields in
North St. Paul, right behind North High School. There is
a parking lot available. The address is 2310 10th Ave. E., North St. Paul, MN 55109.

Q: How many shifts do I have to work?
A: You can work as many or as few shifts as you’d like!

Q: How long are the shifts?
A: The length of the shifts varies but averages around 4 hours.

Q: When do you need help?
A: The concession stand is open every Monday in June & July from 5:00pm-9:00pm for Girls Slowpitch Softball games. There are 4-6 softball tournaments throughout the spring/summer. Usually the tournaments are on Saturday and Sunday with some tournaments adding Friday evening.

Multiple shifts are needed for these tournaments as games are
played all day/evenings.

Q: Who can work?
A: Workers need to be at least 16 years old with a parent accompanying a worker under the age of 18.

Q: Do I need to be trained?
A: COOK 1 & COOK 2 require some special training. The training is not hard and is not time-consuming; we need to be sure all COOKs know how to prepare and serve the food safely and up to code. ALL WORKERS need to read through the Polar Charity manual and familiarize themselves with the procedures and products. We recommend visiting the concession stand before your first night working in order to better acquaint yourself with the facility.

Q: Who will I work with?
A: Since Polar Charity uses a self-scheduling method, you will
be able to see your co-workers when you sign up. You will also
be able to sign up with your friends and family should you choose

Q: Self-scheduling? What do you mean?
A: We use a program called “Sign Up Genius” that allows you to see what shifts need to be filled and what positions are wanted.

Q: Do I need special clothing?
A: Health Department rules require all food workers to wear either a hat/cap or a hair net (caps and hairnets are available at the stand). Workers cannot wear open toed shoes (flip-flops, sandals...) or tank tops

Q: Can I get free food when working?
A: A worker may eat one hot dog or pretzel per shift in addition to one fountain drink.

Q: How does the money generated by Polar Charity benefit St. Peter and the local community?
A: All revenue generated goes to St. Peter and the local community. Since it started in 2008, Polar Charity has donated over $140,000. We contribute to local sports organizations and the North St. Paul Food Shelf. Money generated also helps St. Peter with church ministries
including the youth group and tuition assistance.
