Padrinos for Paraguay Sponsorship
 

As the academic year at St. Anthony school in our sister parish in Paraguay ends this month, it is time to plan for the new school year beginning in February 2021. This has been an exceptionally difficult year due to the COVID pandemic. Distance learning is difficult because only about 30% of students have internet access. Photo copies of work is delivered to students by teachers. Up to four students who are close to school can come to school at certain times to use the internet while following safety precautions. Student evaluations and report cards are being done as normal. The school has little income, tuition has been lowered but still many parents cannot pay. 

St. Anthony school has about 400 students each year. Church of St. Peter parishioner’s generosity has helped provide education to St. Anthony students from preschool through high school. A one-year sponsorship for one student is $300, which provides tuition, meals, uniforms and school supplies.
